Story 1

When I was five, my mother refused to get out of bed and kept telling me she was sick. Finally, my stepfather took her to the hospital, where she spent over a month. I felt it was nice that her hospital allowed her to do arts and crafts all the time; additionally, she improved and began doing arts and crafts with me when she returned home.

I recall telling her that I wanted to go to the hospital and draw all day. She sat me down and told me that she hoped I never got sick like she did, but if I did, there was nothing wrong with requiring help to get better, even if it meant going elsewhere for a short time.

It wasn’t until I was about 13 that I learned the hospital she’d gone to was a mental health hospital, and I realized I didn’t want to get out of bed myself. But, because of her, I’ve never felt ashamed to seek treatment when things become tough or simply to maintain a healthy mindset. © Kenda1l / Reddit.

Story 3

I recently learned that 20 years ago, my brother became a financial counselor and managed my father’s investment money. He lost my father’s whole 401(k), was fired from his job, and has been on the run ever since.

This explained why he left the house so suddenly when I was young. Despite this, my father never informed me or filed charges, and he continued to pay for my tuition at private schools and universities. I adore you, Dad. © Khadgerler / Reddit.

Story 4

My father told me that one of my cousins is unrelated to anyone in our family. My aunt and her mother used to work in a hospital’s maternity unit. One day, a mother entered, gave birth to him, and then left the next day without him.

My aunt chose to adopt him, but a few months later, the woman reappeared and inquired about him. They both lied, claiming he’d been abandoned and that they had no idea where he was. © Existed_/ Reddit

My in-laws di3d in a vehicle accident a few years back. While helping my wife clear up their house, I came across a collection of my late mother-in-law’s journals. Story 8

My mother lied about my stepfather being my father. Only until they split up when I was 13 did she expose the truth, wanting to damage him. He had cheated, therefore she sought to take away what he cherished most: his newborn girl. It was quite harsh and selfish.

At 33, I finally met my biological father. He informed me that my mother had gotten pregnant on purpose to keep him, and that he had always paid child support for me. When I confronted my mother, she refused to respond, refute it, or look me in the eye. © Prettyone_85/Reddit

After my father di3d a few months ago, I discovered that he never considered me his daughter (I am adopted and the only kid). He spent over 30 years being envious of me for “taking his wife away.” © bakerella328 | Reddit

Story 10

I discovered that my mother had two children before my brother and I were born, a secret she concealed for nearly 60 years. It’s a long story, but we’re doing our best to make it a happy ending. © AlfonzL/Reddit

Story 11

My mother has cheated on my father for the entirety of their 30-year marriage. She also only stayed with my father because he received disability payments. It turns out she took at least $14,600 from my father, as far as I can tell. © Lord_Cassidy | Reddit

Story 12

When I was five years old, Santa Claus left us a Nintendo on the front porch. It was wrapped in newspaper, and my parents had no idea who had given it to us. My father, especially, attempted to figure things out. He was constantly suspicious that it had been a family friend. It was by far the best gift of the year, and we played it constantly throughout our youth.

My father died in 2004. Last Christmas, my mother revealed that she had purchased it and secretly placed it on the doorstep. My father preferred to maintain control over things and had disallowed the purchase. She knew better. “She didn’t tell anyone for 30 years.” © Madame_F | Reddit
