Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are preparing another significant trip, which some are already referring to as a “faux royal” tour.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are allegedly planning visits to Lesotho and Botswana following their previous trips to Colombia.
These areas hold a special place in Harry’s heart because of his charitable work with Sentebale. A source close to the pair told Hello! magazine, “That’s his world; that’s what he’s used to.”
Harry was last seen in Lesotho and Botswana in 2019.
Tour controversies
The Sussexes’ recent trip to Colombia was not without controversy. According to local media, the trip, planned by Colombia’s Vice President Francia Marquez, cost a startling $2 million in security, which was paid for by Colombian taxpayers.
This sparked public indignation. Andres Escobar, a California councilman, blasted the price as a “waste of public money on vanity” and accused Marquez of spending “our taxes on rich white people for photo opportunities.”
While some have praised Harry and Meghan’s efforts to raise mental health awareness and inspire youth, others have questioned the unofficial nature of their travels.
The controversy surrounding their security expenditures has contributed to the criticism, particularly given Prince Harry’s ongoing battle with the UK government over his security arrangements while in Britain.
Harry and Meghan will return to the UK
In addition to their future plans abroad, there are reports that Harry and Meghan may spend Christmas in the UK with their children, Archie and Lilibet.
According to Express.co.uk, Harry’s uncle, Charles, Earl Spencer, has invited them to celebrate the holiday season at Althorp House.
If they accept, it will be Meghan’s first significant travel to the UK since attending the late Queen’s funeral in 2022.
