CBS is shaking up daytime television with The Morning Right, a new conservative talk show starring Elisabeth Hasselbeck and Megyn Kelly.
The show, which will air in early 2025, promises to give a platform for conservative perspectives while directly confronting ABC’s The View. CBS hopes that Hasselbeck and Kelly’s celebrity power will appeal to people seeking alternate perspectives by blending political commentary, cultural topics, and high-profile interviews.
Hasselbeck, a former co-host of The View and Fox & Friends, is known for her outspoken conservatism, whereas Kelly, a former Fox News and NBC anchor, has strong interviewing abilities and a significant following.
Both are anxious to promote courteous conversation, avoiding the heated disagreements that frequently appear on The View.
Recurring programs such as “The Pulse of America” and “Heritage Spotlight” will cover important social topics and spotlight outstanding conservative women. CBS execs describe the show as “a movement,” to reach out to an underrepresented conservative audience.
Conservative commentators have hailed the show, but detractors say it may exacerbate the media divide. With The View’s ratings plummeting, CBS’s daring move has the potential to alter daytime television—whether as a victory or a divisive gamble remains to be determined.
