When this woman got pregnant earlier this year, she just thought she was expecting one baby.
Madison Collier, 33, from Marietta, Georgia was a mom to 4-year-old Isla before she learned she was pregnant with quadruplets at her eight-week appointment in April
“I don’t think I’ll ever fully get over the shock,” Collier told Fox News.
According to Collier, she wasn’t on fertility treatments and she doesn’t have a history of multiples in her family. Therefore, when told by the ultrasound technician that she was going to have four babies, she was quite surprised.
Collier told Fox News that she and her 34-year-old husband Justin had planned to have only two kids, but when she went to her doctor’s appointment, that changed.
Collier said the technician was quiet at first, so Collier asked if the baby was alright.
“He said, ‘Yeah, the baby’s OK. There’s just more than one,’” Collier recalled.
She added “I started kind of panicking,”. Then, she told the technician it wasn’t a funny joke.
“He was like, ‘I’m not joking.’ the technician said. And he counted them on the screen for Collier.
Collier shared she was unprepared to welcome four new babies. She said “We don’t have a big enough car, a big enough house,”
Collier said when her husband Justin heard the news about the quadruplets, he had to lay down on the floor because of feeling faint.
As for big sister Isla, her response was: “Well… that gives me lots of kids to play with.”
Accordingly, on Sept. 3, three months before Collier’s original due date, she gave birth to the quadruplets.
The two boys named Calloway and Wilder, and two girls named Iris and Eliza, are still at the hospital where they’ll be until November. Collier said her newborns are doing well.
“They’re very, very sweet. They get lots of love. It’s definitely going to be a wild ride. I think when they come home, it’s going to take an adjustment, but we’ll get it,” Collier added.
As the Colliers continue to wait for their four new bundles of joy to come home, Collier is most excited for Isla to meet her new siblings.
