I used to think getting ghosted while you’re deeply in love was the ultimate heartbreak.
Then my wife broke my heart in a way I never saw coming.
Last night, I was stretched out comfortably on the couch, watching TV and enjoying some peace and quiet.
Suddenly, my wife shouted from the kitchen:
“My precious one! What sounds good for dinner tonight—steak, chicken, or lamb?”
My heart practically exploded.
“My precious one?”
After years of marriage, I thought romance had finally returned!
I sat up proudly and shouted back:
“Chicken sounds wonderful, sweetheart!”
There was a brief silence.
Then she yelled:
“NOT YOU, biscuit belly!”
I froze.
“You’re getting diet soup again! I was asking the cat!”
I slowly looked toward the cat.
The cat looked at me.
And somehow, that cat had more dignity, better treatment, and a better dinner than I did.
That’s when I realized…
Getting rejected by your wife is painful.
Getting rejected in favor of the cat is a whole different level of heartbreak.
