A Mighty Viking Rescued an Elderly Woman in the Supermarket. Her Final Words to Her Husband Are Legendary.

Olaf, a massive and heavily bearded Norseman, was pushing his cart through the aisles of a local supermarket when he noticed an elderly woman in a wheelchair. She was parked near the frozen food section, staring down at the floor, fighting back tears.

Pitying the poor woman, the gentle giant strode over and asked in his deep voice, “What seems to be the trouble, dear lady?”

“Oh, young man,” she sobbed, pointing weakly at the aisle ahead. “I desperately want to pick out some frozen puddings for Sunday dinner. But as you can see, the store has designed this layout terribly—there are three steep steps leading down into the chiller cabinets, and my chair can’t get down there!”

Olaf boomed a hearty laugh. “Say no more! That is absolutely no problem at all.”

Without hesitation, the strong Viking scooped the frail old woman right out of her wheelchair and hoisted her gently onto his broad back. “Hold on tight,” he grinned, “I’ll take you through.”

Olaf calmly strolled down the stairs and walked along the row of chiller cabinets with the elderly woman piggybacking on him. She absolutely loved it, pointing out various desserts, picking up several premium puddings, and tossing them into the shopping basket Olaf was carrying for her.

When they reached the far exit of the frozen section, the old lady’s husband was waiting anxiously next to her empty wheelchair.

Olaf gently set the woman back down into her seat. Clutching her groceries, she looked up at the giant with immense gratitude. “I really, really want to thank you from the bottom of my heart… but I don’t even know who you are!”

Olaf simply flashed a humble smile, gave a polite wave of his hand, and vanished into the next aisle.

The husband rushed over, wiping the sweat from his forehead. “Goodness, darling, I was incredibly worried about you! You disappeared for fifteen minutes! What on earth have you been doing?”

The old lady smirked, adjusted her glasses, and replied:

“Well, dear… I’ve been through the desserts on a Norse with no name.”
