When your spouse heads to the land of romance for a two-week business trip, making a sarcastic joke about souvenirs is a highly dangerous game.
A husband was dropping his wife off at the international terminal for a corporate seminar in Rome. As she grabbed her luggage, she turned back with a smile. “Thank you for driving me, honey. Is there anything special you’d like me to bring back for you?”
The husband chuckled, thinking he was being incredibly witty. “Yeah, actually—bring me back a gorgeous Italian girl!”
The wife went completely quiet, gave him a long, unreadable look, and turned to board her flight.
Two weeks later, he was waiting eagerly at the arrivals gate. After a warm embrace, he grabbed her suitcases and winked. “So, how was the trip? And more importantly… where is my special present?”
“What present?” she asked innocently.
“You know, the one I specifically requested! The beautiful Italian girl!”
The wife smiled sweetly, patted his cheek, and said:
“Oh, that? Well, I did my absolute best while I was over there. Now we just have to wait nine months to see if it turns out to be a girl.”
