On Monday, July 22, Prince George, the Prince and Princess of Wales’ son, will turn eleven years old. Over the years, the young guy has celebrated his birthday in customary royal style.
George received a particularly great birthday present in 2019, even though Prince William and Kate have organized events for their oldest child and their closest family and friends at their houses.
When the Prince’s sixth birthday coincided with a family holiday, he celebrated lavishly.
The Waleses used to spend their vacations in the Caribbean island of Mustique, but William, Kate, and their three children chose staycations on the Isles of Scilly off the Cornish coast and Jordan in the Middle East.
In 2019, George turned six, and the royal family reportedly celebrated by renting an expensive mansion for £27,000 per week. During their vacation, William and Kate released an official portrait of the young Prince.
Andrew Dunn, William’s friend, owns the spectacular four-bedroom Villa Antilles, which boasts a 60-foot infinity pool, a jacuzzi, private staff, and breathtaking views of the nearby islands of Bequia and Saint Vincent.
A children’s room has two bunk beds surrounded by whale murals and other nautical decorations.
The island has a stringent no-fly zone, providing complete solitude for guests and people.
Carole and Michael Middleton, the princess’ parents, also joined William and Kate on their family holiday.
Princess Margaretâs love of Mustique
Given the royal family’s ties to Mustique, it’s not surprising that the couple enjoys the island.
Princess Margaret, Queen Elizabeth II’s late sister, made frequent trips. Margaret was given a plot of property on Mustique, where her husband, Lord Glenconner, the spouse of her lady-in-waiting, Lady Anne Glenconner, erected a five-bedroom villa entitled Les Jolies Eaux (Beautiful Waters).
Following the breakup of Margaret’s marriage to photographer Antony Armstrong-Jones, Mustique emerged as the royal’s safe haven, providing her with an escape from the spotlight.
In 1996, the Princess donated the estate to her son David Linley, now the 2nd Earl Snowdon, as a wedding gift. After that, he sold the villa to American billionaire Jim Murray in 1999 for £2.4 million.
The five-bedroom villa on Mustique’s southernmost point is currently available for rent at over £25,500 per week and has a view of the Caribbean Sea.
