A young woman brought her fiancé home to meet her parents for the first time.
After dinner, her father smiled politely and said, “Son, why don’t you come into my study? I’d like to have a little chat about your plans for the future.”
The young man followed him nervously.
The father got straight to the point.
“So, what are your plans for making a living and supporting my daughter?”
The young man smiled confidently.
“I’m studying theology, sir. I have faith that God will provide.”
The father nodded slowly.
“Interesting. And what about a wedding ring? Weddings aren’t exactly free.”
The young man calmly replied, “Don’t worry, sir. God will provide.”
The father raised an eyebrow.
“And when you two have children? Diapers, food, clothes, school… Who’s going to pay for all that?”
The young man smiled even wider.
“God will provide everything, sir.”
The father stared at him for a moment, then gave a slow nod.
“Right… Wonderful.”
Later that night, his wife asked, “So, dear, how did your little talk with him go?”
The father sighed deeply.
“Well, there’s good news and bad news.”
“Oh? What’s the good news?”
“He has complete faith.”
“And the bad news?”
“He thinks I’m God.”
