The reaction arose after the ‘Delicate’ hitmaker endorsed Kamala Harris for US presidency.
In a furious outburst, Megyn Kelly ordered Taylor Swift to ‘kiss song sales to the Republican audience goodbye’ before labeling the singer and Travis Kelce ‘the ᴇᴘɪᴛᴏᴍᴇ ᴏғ ᴇʟɪᴛᴇ sɴᴏʙs’.
Following the US debate between Vice President Kamala Harris, 59, and former President Donald Trump, 78, in Philadelphia on Tuesday (September 10), Taylor Swift voiced her support for the former on Instagram.
“I will be casting my vote for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz in the 2024 Presidential Election,” she wrote to her 283 million social media followers.
“I’m voting for @kamalaharris because she fights for the rights and causes I believe need a warrior to champion them.”
Swift noted that her choice of Harris’ running mate Walz, 60, left her ‘heartened and impressed’.
She commended him in the post for standing up for LGBTQ+ rights, IVF, and a woman’s right to her own body for decades,’ before signing off: “Taylor Swift.” “Childless Cat Lady.”
This was in response to Vice presidential candidate J.D. Vance’s remarks regarding Democratic women being a group of ‘childless cat ladies’.
American commentator Megyn Kelly soon took to her SiriusXM program, The Megyn Kelly Show, to respond to the ‘Bad Blood’ hitmaker’s statement.
“You can kiss your sales to the Republican audience goodbye Taylor, I hope you enjoyed them while you had them,” Kelly began.
She went on to query how Swift could be ‘OK’ with the Minnesota governor’s reported plan ‘to take custody of children from parents who don’t want them to chop off their bodily parts’.
“That’s what led Taylor Swift to endorse him,” she continued.
Kelly is responding to a false story made last month about Walz reportedly signing a bill allowing Minnesota courts to ‘take custody’ of children and their parents if they refuse to consent to gender-related medical care, according to AFP.
It is understood that Walz signed the Trans Refuge Bill in March 2023, which provides legal protection to transgender people traveling from other states to seek medical care.
According to Advocate, there is no provision in the Act that allows the state to ‘kidnap’ youngsters whose parents do not support their gender transition.
“I’m allowed to criticise Taylor Swift and I don’t give a s**t who gets upset,” Kelly continued to rant on her show. “This is disgusting.”
The podcaster then launched a hate campaign against the singer’s boyfriend, Travis Kelce, an NFL tight end.
She described the couple as ‘the ᴇᴘɪᴛᴏᴍᴇ ᴏғ ᴇʟɪᴛᴇ sɴᴏʙs’ before claiming that the 34-year-old athlete ‘didn’t care’ about what would happen to guys who received a COVID-19 booster shot.
“They will be sitting in their mansions in Rhode Island and California and New York and jetting across the world saying ‘Let them eat cake’ because they’ll be bathing themselves in their own sanctimony.”
Kelly stated the couple were ‘too consumed’ with their net worth to have a ‘consideration for those they hurt’.
