Miss America held its second night of preliminary competition in Atlantic City last week. Almost all of the candidates arrived onstage dressed in beautiful costumes to demonstrate their singing, dancing, and musical abilities for the talent competition; however, there was one exception: Kelley Johnson.
Miss Colorado Kelly chose to perform a one-of-a-kind monologue about her experience as a nurse caring for an old Alzheimer’s patient.
People were certainly startled when she walked onstage in her nurse scrubs. But when she’s finished, the results are completely mind-blowing and heart-moving. Kelly has already won in my eyes, regardless of whether she wins the ultimate crowns.
Kelly graduated from Grand View University with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2015. She graduated as the valedictorian of her nursing class and currently works as a registered nurse.
