Evelyn and her husband James were high school sweethearts. She knew he was the one as soon as she saw him. Their lives were full of lovely moments and joy, and their shared home served as a haven for them and their children.
Unfortunately, their picture-perfect union was crushed when James fell ill and ᴅɪᴇᴅ.
Everything suddenly felt different. Evelyn’s days were no longer bright, and her home was unusually quiet.
As she went through the old albums, she reflected about her previous life. She remembered their vacation to Italy, when they roamed around the alleys of Rome and ended up eating the finest pizza they’d ever had.
The simple things and the enormous love made their marriage feel like a fairytale.
Evelyn never imagined she’d be able to love someone again after his abrupt ᴅᴇᴀᴛʜ, but two years later, she met someone at a friend’s party. Michael was nothing like James, but he was a humble man with a golden heart who showed her that love can be rediscovered.
After six months of dating, Michael proposed, and Evelyn said a hearty “Yes.”
Her children were quite supportive of their relationship. They were extra happier to be present for their mother, especially on her special day.
Jackson, who has always been a creative individual, assisted with the banners. Harry was in charge of the cuisine, while Oliver was in charge of the floral arrangements. Ben, her youngest son, was ensuring that everything ran properly. They were all looking forward to the evening and the rehearsal dinner, glad that their mother had found happiness again.
The day was quite chaotic, but in a good manner.
Everything looked wonderful on the wedding day. However, something disturbed Evelyn. No matter how enthusiastic she was about the new beginning ahead of her, she couldn’t picture that precious day without her daughter by her side.
Sadly, her connection with her daughter, Emma, deteriorated following James’ ᴅᴇᴀᴛʜ. Emma ᴀᴄᴄᴜsᴇᴅ her mother of kíllíng her father since Evelyn chose to honor her late husband’s request not to be resuscitated.
As Evelyn walked down the aisle, she couldn’t possibly imagine what followed.
When the officiant stated, “If anyone objects to this union, speak now or forever hold your peace,” her four children stepped up and declared, “We do!”.
Evelyn and Michael were astonished. How could the children say that when they’ve only been supportive of their parents’ relationship?
As stillness filled the room, James replied, “Mom, you can’t get married without one person.” Emma suddenly emerged in front of everyone. With tears streaming down her cheeks, she embraced her mother and begged forgiveness. Evelyn began to tremble, her heart filled with enormous excitement. Her life was now complete.
She felt contentment, thankfulness, and fulfillment.
Although Evelyn will never forget James, the father of her children, she realized that life goes on and that we should embrace new beginnings.
