
A parish priest was informed by his bishop that he was being transferred to a new church. After he broke the news to his congregation, a distraught woman approached him in floods of tears.
“This is terrible news, Father!” she sobbed. “You can’t leave us. You must refuse the move and tell the bishop to send someone else!”
Placing a comforting hand on her shoulder, the priest smiled gently and said, “I know change is hard, Mrs. Johnson. But don’t lose heart—who knows? Maybe the next priest they send will be even better than me.”
Wiping her eyes, Mrs. Johnson cried hysterically:
“Oh sure! That’s exactly what they told us the last time!”
