A Navy captain noticed a bright light in the distance, apparently heading straight toward his ship.
He immediately grabbed the signal lamp and sent a message:
“Change your course 10 degrees west.”
The light flashed back:
“Change yours 10 degrees east.”
The captain frowned.
He sent another message:
“I’m a U.S. Navy captain. You change your course.”
The reply came back:
“I’m a Seaman First Class. You change yours.”
Now the captain was getting seriously annoyed.
He flashed:
“I’m commanding an aircraft carrier! I am NOT changing course!”
The light replied with one final message:
“I’m a lighthouse.”
There was a long silence.
The captain slowly looked at his crew.
“Okay, boys… maybe we should reconsider that course.”
