One Sunday morning, a minister ended his sermon with a special assignment for the congregation.
He smiled and said,
“Next week I’ll be preaching about the sin of lying. To help you prepare, I’d like everyone to read Mark, Chapter 17.”
The congregation nodded politely, and everyone headed home.
The following Sunday, the minister stepped back to the pulpit with a grin.
He looked across the packed church and asked,
“Now then… who read Mark, Chapter 17 like I requested?”
Without hesitation…
Every hand in the church shot into the air.
The minister paused, smiled even wider, and said,
“That’s exactly what I thought.”
The room fell silent.
Then he delivered the punchline:
“The Book of Mark only has 16 chapters.”
He folded his hands and added,
“Now… let’s begin today’s sermon on the sin of lying.” 😂
