Little Johnny was left in charge of babysitting his infant sister one Saturday morning while his mother and father went out to do some grocery shopping.
To pass the time and cure his boredom, Johnny decided to head down to the local creek for a bit of fishing. Left with no choice, he reluctantly packed up his baby sister and hauled her along with him.
Later that afternoon, his parents returned home to find Johnny sitting on the porch, looking completely miserable.
“I am never, ever doing that again!” Johnny grumbled to his mother. “I didn’t catch a single thing all day!”
His mother smiled sympathetically and said, “Oh, don’t be discouraged, honey. I’m sure it was just a fluke. Next time, your little sister will know to sit quietly so she doesn’t frighten the fish away.”
Johnny rolled his eyes, shook his head, and snapped:
“It wasn’t that she was making noise, Mom. She ate all the damn bait!”
