Prince Harry recently celebrated his 40th birthday. Though his conflict with the Royal Family is still mostly unresolved, the Duke is said to have celebrated quietly with his closest friends and family on the big day. At least there seemed to be a truce.
Many royal fans were surprised when Prince William, Kate Middleton, and King Charles all posted birthday greetings for Harry on their social media platforms. A royal analyst speculated that Prince William would have been “persuaded” to give his younger brother some love on the occasion by Kate, the Princess of Wales.
Harry and Kate reportedly had a wonderful connection in the past, but that is most definitely not the case anymore. The estranged prince also referred to her as the “sister he never had,” suggesting that the two once had a close relationship.
Birthdays are, of course, always reasons to celebrate, and it seems that the Royal Family is no exception. However, Harry apparently opted to cancel his birthday plans when he turned 30 for a very personal reason—something to do with Kate Middleton.
The moment Prince Harry and Meghan Markle decided to speak up in their historic Oprah Winfrey interview in 2021, their relationship with the Royal Family completely collapsed. The couple’s Netflix series and Harry’s memoir, Spare, served to deepen their differences, and as of right now, it appears that a reunion is years away.
Harry’s birthday was formerly a significant occasion on the royal calendar, although the Royal Family wouldn’t have observed it in person.
Harry reportedly had to postpone his birthday celebration once due to Kate Middleton. As per the Mirror, Prince William and Kate Middleton had organised a private dinner for Harry in the days leading up to his 30th birthday. His cousins and other close friends would also be there as part of the family. But the day before his big day, Kate, who was expecting Princess Charlotte, started to have terrible morning sickness.
Harry, who as previously indicated had a wonderful relationship with Kate, was determined to celebrate his sister-in-law’s birthday with her. Ultimately, the Duke cancelled the meal completely!
“Even though turning thirty is a significant milestone, Harry was certain that the celebration should be rescheduled.
Harry felt it was inappropriate to allow the party to proceed after Kate became ill because she had been heavily involved in its planning, an insider told the Mirror. Vanity Fair revealed that although the event was cancelled, the celebration continued later, allowing Harry and Kate to finally share the special day.
